The Drum Kit is the basic percussion equipment used in jazz bands, pop bands, and rock groups, and is played by one person. It reached its modern form in the late 1930s. The bass drum, snare drum, and one suspended cymbal, are the unchanging elements in a drum kit, with the others being added as required.
